The concealed carry applications are available through the Fairfield County Sheriff's Office, located at 345 Lincoln Ave., Lancaster, Ohio.


CCW appointments are scheduled Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 12:45 pm, special circumstances such as holidays will affect this schedule.  Please call 740-652-7321 or 740-652-7320 to schedule. 


We will accept your application upon appointment at 345 Lincoln Ave., Lancaster, Ohio.

Carrying a concealed handgun is a large responsibility.  As Fairfield County Sheriff, I will insure each application is thoroughly checked, fingerprints are completed and the required investigations are completed by my staff, within the allotted 45 days as required by law.  I ask you as an applicant to help us with this process by reading through this letter and booklet, and making sure you have everything required in order for the application/investigation process to run as smoothly as possible.

Application for Carry Concealed License

We are dedicated to making this process safe, organized and as professional as possible. Once you obtain your license, we ask that you remain safe and professional any time you carry a firearm. In order to apply you must read the required reading/concealed carry publication and become familiar with and keep up the law changes. You can do this and print the application off from the Ohio Attorney General's Website. Please be sure you qualify for an OHIO CONCEALED CARRY LICENSE prior to your appointment. If you apply and you do not qualify you will lose your non-refundable fee and may also be prosecuted for Felony Falsification un ORC 2921.3 in attempt to obtain a Concealed Carry License if any false information or documentation is provided.

CCW Original:
  • Complete Application
  • Certificate of Completion of Ohio CCW course taken within 3 years
  • Law Enforcement course within 10 years
  • Military training documentation. No time limit but must be equivalent to CCW handgun training and taken through military service or you must take an Ohio CCW course.
  • Passport Size and quality color photo (2x2) or for an additional $10 we will take it
  • Valid Driver's License or State ID, ** Retired Law Enforcement ID/Document
    *Military ID or DD214: must be honorable discharged veteran, notify at time of making the appointment and at appointment to waive fee
  • Social Security Card
  • Fee CASH OR CHECK ONLY: $67 if you have physically lived only in Ohio for the last 5 years, if you have not your total will be $78.25 to include a required FBI F/P check.
CCW Renewal:
  • Completed Application
  • Original/Current/Expired OHIO Concealed Carry License
  • Valid Driver's License or State ID, ** Retired Law Enforcement ID/Document
    *Military ID or DD214: must be honorable discharged veteran, notify at time of making the appointment and at appointment to waive fee
  • Social Security Card
  • Fee CASH OR CHECK ONLY: $50 if you have physically lived only in Ohio for the last 5 years, if you have not your total will be $61.25 to include a required FBI F/P check.

A Concealed Carry license can now be renewed any time before or after expiration with the proper documentation.

**Retired Law enforcement with proper documentation which indicated retirement date will have their fee waived upon proper notification.


Once you have the above ready please call 740-652-7321 or 740-652-7324 8am-4pm Monday-Friday to schedule. Appointments are scheduled between 9am to 1pm Monday through Friday (with exceptions/holidays).


DO NOT BRING YOUR HANDGUN

Do Not Bring Your Handgun and Please moisturize your hands prior to coming in, overly dry hands will not print. We have 45 days to complete your application process from the time your application is received. Please notify us if you will not be able to make your appointment, so we may open that time frame for another applicant.

If you are not able to make your scheduled appointment, please call us so we may reschedule you and open that spot for another applicant. My staff and I are dedicated to making this process as safe, organized and professional as possible.  Once you obtain your license, I ask that you remain safe and professional when you carry a firearm.
