The Detective Bureau is responsible for initiating and conducting criminal investigations into all major crimes including murder, assault, and robbery, as well as property-related crimes, such as burglary and theft. In response to the needs of our community, the bureau added an SVU Detective in 2020 that is dedicated to investigating sexual assault cases involving juveniles and adults.

Detective Bureau Commander, Sgt. J. Feyko has been with the Fairfield County Sheriff's Office for more than 20 years.  Since 2013 has supervised the Patrol and Jail Bureaus and prior to his current assignment, was in charge of prisoner transports, SORN, and security for the Courthouse. Additionally, Sgt. Feyko served as Commander of our Corrections Academy and is currently an OPOTA Certified Instructor for Corrections and Basic Peace Officer Academies and is an adjunct professor at Hocking College. A past recipient of the Red Cross Public Safety Hero of the year, Sgt. Feyko was the supervisor of the year in 2018.
