4. Has taught classes on police ethics and also the opiate epidemic, not only locally but to the National Sheriffs’ Association, the Buckeye State Sheriff’s Association and the Attorney General’s Conference

Awards:

• Sheriff Phalen has received numerous commendations and awards, but the one he is most proud is the “Ohio Distinguished Law Enforcement Award” presented to him by the Ohio Attorney General.

• Sheriff Phalen hosts a weekly safety television program shown locally on Time Warner Cable. He has also been featured in USA Today newspaper, and on Fox News and CNN.
